Abstract

INTRODUCTION

The aim of this research is to identify the effectiveness of Visual Learning Approach for the improvement of the academic achievements of the Grade 5 pupils in English and to determine the effectiveness of the suggested approach in teaching so that this will be the basis of suggesting this particular approach to other teachers.

METHODS

The researcher used an experimental and descriptive survey method. The primary aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the teacher's approach to teaching English through Visual Learning Approach to achieve progress in the performance of the Grade 5 pupils. The researcher designed questionnaires conducted observations to teachers and pupils and compared the collected data.

RESULTS

The recorded MPS in English of Grade 5 Pieces turned from 75.25 to 80.50 through Visual Learning Approach compared to the other strategies like teaching demonstrations and discussions;a significant difference between the scores of pupils was seen. There is an improvement in the MPS based on the used approach.

DISCUSSIONS

In this modern day where technology is a great part of our lives, teachers also adapt to using f computers in teaching. They are teaching lessons with the use of video presentations, PowerPoints and other computer-related programs, which will be beneficial for both teacher and pupils. Through visual learning approach, pupils are more motivated and interested for they are seeing visual representations of things and concepts of their lessons or topics for the day.
