"Attendance mo, Iaaward ko" : Strategy to Increase Grade VI pupils Attendance during Flag Ceremony

INTRODUCTION
In Patong Elementary School, flag ceremonies were observed daily from Mondays to Fridays, because the school believed that the daily practice of flag ceremony is beneficial to school children specifically to elevate pupils' discipline and sense of patriotism. The school also has its best practice in the conduct of flag ceremonies, that is, to record the attendance of the pupils who attended the ceremonies through the effort of the Supreme Pupil Government (SPG). Its main goal is to identify whose grade level/s has the most number of attendees which subject to incentives.
METHODS
The researcher employed a descriptive-evaluative research design. The research aims to provide data behavior of Grade VI pupils as to their attendance during flag ceremony based on the attendance record by the SPG Officers. After the accurate, informative data gathering and procedures, data collected were organized, analyzed, and correctly interpreted.
RESULTS
There is an increased in the average daily attendance of Grade VI pupils during flag ceremony after introducing the "Attendance Mo, Iaaward Ko" strategy, from 21 out of 28 Grade VI pupils on August to 93% or 26 out of 28 Grade VI pupils on December.
DISCUSSIONS
The strategy "Attendance Mo, Iaaward Ko" being employed by the researcher helped to increase the attendance of Grade VI pupils during the flag ceremony. The researcher encourages teacher who experienced the same problem, to employ the same innovation.
