Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Teachers perform distinct roles to help the learners cope with the day-to-day activities to be done inside the TLE laboratory. Effective teaching and learning cannot take place in an inadequately managed classroom. Students will show poor performance if facilities and equipment are inadequate; hence, sufficient knowledge, skills, and work values will not be acquired. With this condition, both the teachers and students are affected; the teachers will continue to face difficulties teaching, while the learners will most likely be learning less than they should.

METHODS

This study uses the descriptive-correlational approach to determine if there is a significant relationship between the management and evaluation of TLE activities to the skills development in on-the-job training of Grade 9 students in the National High School in Pila District. The Pearson product moment correlation coefficient "Pearson r" was used as the statistical tool in determining the relationship between the management and evaluation of TLE activities to the skills development in the OJT of Grade 9 students. It also helps determine how much variation is caused by the independent variable in relation to the variation caused by the dependent variables.

RESULTS

When it comes to the relationship between management and evaluation of TLE activities and OJT grades, there was no significant relationship between teachers' planning and OJT grades (r-value of 0.132); between coordinating and OJT grades (r-value of 0.156); between cooperating and OJT grades (r-value of -0.022) and between implementing and OJT grades (r-value of -0.100) of Grade 9 students. There was a significant relationship between students' skills and OJT grades (r-value of 0.561) of Grade 9 students. On the other hand, there was no significant relationship between knowledge and OJT grades (r-value of 0.070) and between work values and OJT grades of Grade 9 students (r-value of 0.093.

DISCUSSIONS

The perception of teachers in the management and evaluation of TLE activities in terms of planning, coordinating, cooperating and implementing, as well as the perception of the Grade 9 students with the emphasis on skills development such as knowledge and work value were considered to find its effectiveness. After the conduct of the activities, both the TLE Teachers and students "strongly agree" on the effectiveness of planning in the management and evaluation of TLE activities. OJT helps augment students' knowledge, improve skills, and develop a positive attitude among them.
