INTRODUCTION
In response to Department of Education Order No. 15, s2007, teachers are encouraged to be innovative to address the need for additional reading materials that should also undergo the process prescribed by the Department of Education. In this study, we explored the needs of our client according to their level of learnings with an innovation that was solidly grounded in evidence and theory.
METHODS
Post-test and Pre-test Experimental Research Design was used. Using the innovation iPhone, which stands for Instrument of Pupils That Help On their Needs on Exploration, to test their reading comprehension skills using the universal or take all techniques to the 22 Grade 4 learners of Rizal Elementary School of Diffun I District, Diffun Quirino.
RESULTS
The pre-test scores revealed good or M=10.3182, SD=4.30267 in reading comprehension. The post-test scores of the pupils after the iPhone was introduced showed that pupils garnered very good scores in Reading Comprehension or M=18. 1818, SD=1.36753 ). This affords information that the pupils have improved in the task given as they performed very satisfactory after the iPhone was introduced. The paired sample t-test on the significant difference between the pre-test and post-test means that the scores of the Grade 4 pupils transpires that the t-value of -10.552 and a p-value lower than 0.05; hence, the result is interpreted as significant. This indicates that the intervention significantly improved the mastery level of pupils along with the selected competencies in Reading Comprehension. The effect size of IPHONE generated a t-value of -10.552 showing an Eta squared of 0.841, which can be interpreted that IPHONE as an intervention has a large effect.
DISCUSSIONS
The results determined the effectiveness of iPhone in enhancing Reading Comprehension Skills. The tools in determining the aid effectiveness were through iPhone Post-test and Pre-test Experimental Research Design with the 22 selected respondents through the universal technique in the form of taking all pupils. Using the mean, standard deviation, paired sample t-test and eta squared, the study revealed that skills in reading comprehension and other learning areas particularly Science, iPhone may be used and tried for future reference.
