Abstract

The study focused on determining and investigating the effectiveness of Content and Language Integrated Learning in Enhancing the Reading and Writing Skills of Grade 11 students at Paliparan II Integrated High School. The researcher employed the quasi-experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test design and the statistical tools applied were Mean, Standard Deviation and Z-test. Upon completion of the study, the researcher discovered that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the students in the reading and writing test after the utilization of the teaching strategy. The Z-test also revealed that the performance of the students in the reading and writing test was identical prior to the implementation of the teaching strategy. It also showed that the post-test scores of the students achieved significantly higher compared with the pre-test score. Thus, for maximizing the learning capacity of students, Content and Language Integrated Learning would be a better choice in enhancing the reading and writing skills of the students.
