Abstract

The use of grab bags was implemented in Philippine schools due to a study by government agencies that a 7.2-magnitude earthquake may happen at any time. Since the implementation of this program at SMCQC, it was evident that students have mixed feelings or opinions towards the carrying of grab bags. This study aimed to discover the different perspectives of Grade 11 Marian students on the bringing of grab bags. We used qualitative interviews in order to achieve an understanding of a Marian student's perception regarding the bringing of grab bags. This study discovered that the students were aware of a grab bag's contents and its importance, and are aware of its benefits, for example: being prepared for any disaster. Students had some concerns about the grab bags, such as its aesthetics and inconvenience.
