Abstract

Street foods are a common scene in the Filipino context. However, the safety of street or sold foods is one of the most pressing health and safety issues being faced by developing countries like the Philippines because it leads to both public health and social consequences. Hence, this study determined the proper food handling practices of street food vendors along a regional medical center in the Philippines. Forty-three street vendors were voluntarily involved in this study. It made use of a descriptive survey, and data were collected through a structured survey questionnaire. This study revealed poor sanitary conditions and poor food hygiene practices of handlers that may potentially cause health problems.
